Ground Classes for Commercial Pilot License (CPL)

Commercial Pilot License (CPL) Ground Classes in India are an essential part of pilot training for those aspiring to become commercial pilots. These classes cover a range of theoretical subjects that are crucial for understanding the principles of flying and aviation.

These CPL Ground Classes provide the foundational knowledge required for safe and effective flying operations. At Aviators Of Tomorrow, the classes are conducted by qualified instructors who are experienced pilots or experts in their respective fields. The training is designed to prepare students for the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) examinations, which they must pass to obtain the CPL

The DGCA is the regulatory body in India that oversees civil aviation and sets the standards for pilot training and licensing. Passing the DGCA exams is a critical step towards earning a CPL, which then allows individuals to fly commercial aircraft.

The curriculum typically includes subjects such as:

Air Navigation

This subject will cover the basic principles of air navigation to enable students to understand the process of planning, recording, and controlling aircraft movements. The following topics will be thoroughly taught during this class: (1) General Navigation, (2) Mass and Balance, (3) Performance, (4) Flight planning and Monitoring, (5) Radio Navigation, (6) Flight instruments, and (7) Power plant and System monitoring systems. This knowledge is essential to airline pilots as it facilitates to maintain a high level of safety and efficiency in the aviation industry.

Aviation Meteorology

This subject will cover the weather aspects involved in aviation to enable students to understand the process of air traffic management and its impact on safety and efficiency. The following topics will be thoroughly taught during this class: (1) Atmosphere, (2) Wind, (3) Thermodynamics, (4) Clouds and Fog, (5) Precipitation, (6) Air masses and Fronts, (7) Pressure systems, (8) Climatology, (9) Flight hazards, and (10) Meteorological information. This knowledge is essential to airline pilots to become environmentally conscious and make a wiser aeronautical and economical decision.

Radio Telephony Restricted (Aero)

This is the only pilot exam that is not held by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). The Wireless Planning and Coordination (WPC) wing of the Ministry of Communication, Government of India is responsible for this examination and issues the RTR(A) license in India. This subject will cover the knowledge required to handle the communication equipment in an aircraft. This exam may be broken down into two parts: (1) Radio transmission, and (2) Viva. Part 1 will determine your ability to follow regulations and standard procedures during your scenario based transmissions. Part 2 will be an oral exam testing your knowledge on (1) Regulations and procedures, (2) Radio principles and practice, and (3) Basic electrical theory. This knowledge is essential to pilots as it teaches them how to maintain professionalism during transmissions and ensure safety.

Air Navigation Composite

This subject is a combination of the Air Navigation and Aviation Meteorology class. In other words, this class will cover the following topics: (1) Weather conditions, (2) General Navigation, and (3) Radio Aids and Instruments. This examination is given by students who intend to clear DGCA exams after attaining their foreign CPL.
